Wednesday! Really pushing this week to prepare all children and teens for testing! Remember, not everyone tests every time, so if you’re not ready, simply keep working. The goal is not how fast you get through the belts; the goal is how well you get through the belts.
Memorial Day is Monday May 29. We will be closed that day. Testing is Friday June 2. Be ready to get testing applications in on Tuesday and Wednesday next week!
Couple of things to kick off this week!
First, we are 2-weeks out from the next test for children and teens. Time to put that last-minute polish on your training.
Second, short orders are live. We will send home a flyer today with information. If you are in our Lion’s Way Parents group on Facebook, you can also find it there.

What a great week! Not only is that sun shinning, but the training is going awesome! School is winding down soon, but we’re still kicking it into high gear. Great thing about martial arts is that we are a year round sport. Keep your mind and body active this summer by not only adding outdoor activities, but by training at Lion’s Way too!

It seems the expected 90 degree heat is going to pass us by. Woot woot!
Air conditioning is on and we will slow practice down to account for the increase in heat. Children coming to class, please avoid drinking real fruit juices! The citric acid. plus heat, plus physical activity can cause upset stomachs. Drink water! It’s good for you!

Friday! Looks to be hitting the low 80s today! We’ll have the air-conditioning on, so the only heat you’ll have to worry about is from how hard you work! Heat advisory in effect for our area until late Monday. Please drink that water and stay cool! Check back Monday for any update on classes / heat issues! Have a fabulous weekend everyone!
Good news / bad news day!
Good News: Sunshine and warm weather are on tap for the next couple of weeks! Spring is finally hitting. Reminder that if temperatures get to the high 70s and into the 80s, we have and will use air conditioning at the school. Please drink that water and enjoy!
Bad News: Sunday into Monday (the 14th and 15th of May) forecast is currently calling for 90 degree weather! Please be aware that if temperatures are going to exceed 90 degrees that we will cancel classes for that day. Even with air conditioning running, the temp inside the school will rise to levels that make it unsafe to train. Please check our website, or social media pages, each day before coming to school for updates. We will make a final decision by 1 pm in such cases, to give as much notice as possible. You can make up all missed classes. We value your health first!

Welcome to May Day! Hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather this weekend! It was so nice to get outside and feel the sunshine. Now it’s time to get back to work. Let’s take that weekend energy and carry through this whole week! Can’t wait to see you training!

Thought I’d take a moment and share our class helpers with you. Class helpers are not instructors, but are official staff here at Lion’s Way Martial Arts. Like any job, they receive training and have duties to perform. Thier first responsibility, obviously, is to help with classes. In the kids’ class, they will sometimes run warm-ups or work with new students one-on-one. They also help watch kids when class is over, making sure each student gets home with the correct parents / guardian. They can answer basic questions when the instructor is busy and, most importantly, they help keep the school clean!
In the middle, we have our longest running helper, Ms. Aria. To the left is Ms. Komal and to the right is our newest helper, Mr. David. A great group of teens that we are proud to have representing our school! Give them a shout out when you see them. They love the attention!
