Lion’s Way Martial Arts is proud to be celebrating its 25th anniversary!
When we first opened our doors in Oct.1998, we committed ourselves to providing our customers with the highest quality martial arts instruction in a professional and friendly environment. We are proud to say that we have upheld those values for the past 25 years.
We have coached champions in submission grappling, Judo, and MMA. We have students who have grown up training on our mats. Gone off to college, received AA, bachelor’s and even master’s degrees. We have watched as students who trained with us in our younger classes, grown, have families of their own and returned their own children to our care. A truly humbling experience. Twenty-five years is a long time.
For twenty-five years, we’ve been a stable part of the Kent community. Through recessions, through covid, through hardships of all kinds, we have survived. While it has never been easy, we have always found a way with your help. We fight to be here for you when you need us.
Our thanks to everyone for your support over the years. It’s the students, family and friends that make our team here something more. Your dedication to what we teach, your support through the years, is what inspires us. Each day we are grateful for the wonderful people that help make this place the absolute best place to train.
The future’s so bright here at Lion’s Way Martial Arts. We continue to push forward, to improve upon what has come before and help people accomplish their goals! If these first twenty-five years were so spectacular, we can hardly wait to see where the next years take us.
Our highest regards to you, and again our thanks, for letting us be a part of your life and community,
Respectfully,
Skip Scherer

Friday! Looks like some nice weather returning for the weekend! Hope you have some spectacular plans to enjoy it all. Next week is testing week for children and teens. Testing application will be out on Monday. Be ready to go, it’s going to be an exciting time!
Rainy days! Wish we would have had more of that in the summer, but I’ll take what I can get. Hope everyone is staying dry and warm as the season of change is upon us! With some colds going around, we’d like to take a moment and remind everyone that if you’re not feeling well, please stay home. Classes can always be made up! We don’t want you safe and healthy in only training, but in life as well. Keep training if you can, rest if you need to, testing is coming!
It feels great to get to work after such an exciting weekend! This week we start working towards the next test for children and teens! Testing is Friday Oct 6. Reminder, not everyone makes every test, but get that training in and see what you can accomplish.
Friday! Reminder for everyone playing paintball this Saturday:
Rainy Wednesdays are fine, as long as you’re training inside! Next regular test for teens and children is fast approaching! Friday Oct 6 is the testing day. Don’t wait until the last minute to prepare.
Welcome to another great week! We have our normal training for children, teens, and adults! Check out those classes. This weekend, Saturday Sept. 23, we’ll have our annual paintball games! Open to the adults, teens and advanced kids’ classes, this yearly event is one of our favorites! Let’s get this week going!
With everything that happened at the end of last week, going into this week has been a little hectic. Our fabulous students, friends and family have a made great work of it however. We thank everyone for the care and consideration you have expressed to us. We are eternally humbled and grateful. We have such a fantastic team here at Lion’s Way Martial Arts!
Monday. While we are gearing up to tackle another week of great training, lets take a moment to remember this inauspicious day. A moment of remembrance for the 9-11 attacks and a moment to remember that we are all one people. Be better towards each other and build a better tomorrow.

Friday – Short take: We are OPEN tonight, however you may notice a small boarded window when you come in. As seems to be the sign of the times, Lion’s Way was broken into last night.
