Friday is here! This week’s heat turned up the challenge, but we powered through. Great work, everyone! Enjoy some well-earned rest this weekend!

Looking ahead: We’re just two weeks out from testing for children and teens. Mark your calendars—Friday, August 1st is the big day! Let’s channel that final burst of energy and finish strong. Summer tests are always a highlight!

Thursday! We’re OPEN today.
Thankfully, the weather has dropped back below 90 degrees for the rest of the week. That trend, at least for now, looks like it’ll carry into next week!

So let’s get back to work and put the good kind of sweat on the mats. The kind that comes from training at Lion’s Way.

Wednesday – No Classes Due to Heat Advisory

With temperatures expected to reach between 92°F and 96°F today, the training environment will not be safe—even with air conditioning. Please stay cool, stay hydrated, and take care of yourselves.

Classes are expected to resume tomorrow, as temperatures return to a safe and manageable level.

As always, our students’ safety is our top priority. Remember, you’re welcome to make up any missed classes.

Thank you for your understanding!

Tuesday Yes—we’re OPEN for classes today! Please note that a Heat Advisory is in effect for the Kent area. Please use your best judgment. In some cases, it is better to stay home and be cool. You may always make up missed classes!

The AC will be running, and we’ll be adjusting class structure to focus on technique and skill-building, rather than high-intensity movement. Students will be learning and working, just with a bit less “push” behind it.

Important Reminder:
If your child is attending class today, do not drink fruit juices. The acidity—especially in apple juice—can react poorly with heat and exertion, leading to nausea and stomach upset. WATER ONLY. This is an important precaution, and it matters.

Monday!
We’re OPEN today and keeping cool with the AC on—it looks like we’re in for a hot week ahead!

With temperatures predicted to reach the 90s, we’ll post daily updates to keep you informed. We closely monitor conditions to ensure a safe training environment. Wednesday is shaping up to be the peak of this heat wave, so stay tuned.

A note for parents: Please make sure your child stays hydrated throughout the day. We strongly recommend avoiding fruit juices—especially apple juice—before class. Although juice can seem like an easy option, its acidity combined with high temperatures may cause stomach discomfort during training. Plain water is always the best choice.

Welcome to the weekend!
We wrapped up a great week of training, and now it’s time to enjoy the weather.

Speaking of which—temperatures are expected to rise next week. While the AC will be on, please remember that if outdoor temperatures exceed 90 degrees, classes may be canceled. Training in high heat, even indoors, can pose health risks, and safety is always our priority.

We’ll post updates daily to keep you informed.
Wishing you a fantastic weekend!

The weather cooled off a bit this week, but training is still blazing! Great work, everyone, keep pushing!

Next week, temps are climbing again. The AC will be on, but just a heads-up: when it hits above 90°F, we cancel classes for safety. Check our website or social channels for updates—we’ll keep you informed so we can all train smart and stay safe.

7-7-2025

Weather is on a roller coaster this week—highs early on, a dip, then a slow climb back up. We’ll have the AC when needed and bring the heat with our training.

Summer training is the best training at Lion’s Way.

7-2-2025

Thursday and the last day of classes this week. Classes as normal.

We’ll be closed for the July 4th holiday—have a safe and happy Independence Day!

6-30-2025

Tuesday kicks off July, and Friday brings the 4th. Reminder: We will be closed on July 4th in observance of the holiday!

Hard to believe we’re already halfway through the year. Summer’s rolling, and it’s not too late to make it count! Give your kids a summer to remember at Lion’s Way Martial Arts.
